Muna Crawinkel - Forced labor and armament mania in secret

Historical background

During the Second World War, the SS built an underground munitions factory in Crawinkel, for the construction of which concentration camp prisoners had to perform forced labor under deadly conditions.
The history

"Encounter"

In the ‘Path of Remembrance’ project, pupils created concrete sculptures in 2024/25 to commemorate the victims of Ohrdruf satellite camp S III.

The clay reliefs from the year 2025 take up the faces of former S-III prisoners and create places of silent encounter with their history.
