Vintage 2025:
"In the face" - clay reliefs

Year 2025 continued the “Path of Remembrance” project and expanded it to include an artistic form. The pupils developed clay reliefs in which they modeled expressive faces – again inspired by biographies of former prisoners of the S III satellite camp. These clay works were then fired and form a permanent addition to the large concrete sculptures from the previous year.

The reliefs are designed so that they can be presented on walls, for example in Ehrenstein Castle, in the documentation center or in the protected entrance area of the Muna, Crawinkel. The vintage thus created a new form of encounter with the people behind the figures: The faces appear close, vulnerable and personal – and make it possible to keep memories visible, even indoors. The intensive manual work with clay, the examination of historical photographs, the research into prisoner biographies and the conscious artistic interpretation deepened the students’ understanding of the individual history of the victims and the importance of remembrance today.
